History
Behind Perkuus are Hilde and Charlotte.
Hilde grew up next to her grandparents' farm in Kouters, Brabant. It was here that she developed a taste for working in and with nature.
After working in tropical laboratories for around ten years as a biomedical researcher, she felt the desire to work more outdoors.
In 2014, she completed a practical training course in "organic and biodynamic farming" with Landwijzer, and then started work as a market gardener at the Het Neerhof educational farm in Dilbeek.
Charlotte, a socio-cultural animator by training, spent several years in the social sector in Brussels, where she worked with the homeless and disabled adults. She was involved in the start-up of the "De Wilder" therapeutic garden in Erps-Kwerps.
Three years ago she finally took the plunge and started her training at Landwijzer.
Project and values
Perkuus produces quality organic vegetables in their field in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw and delivers them to Brussels and the surrounding area. Their goal? To bring people to their field and bring the field to the city! In this way, Hilde and Charlotte create a link between the farmers, the field and the people who consume their produce.
They work in agro-ecology, in harmony with nature and the environment.
Their farm aims to provide food and work in the fields not only for the present but also for future generations.
In addition, Perkuus is developing a strong social component: the people who work in the fields play a central role. Perkuus wants to strengthen the bond between us and our food and give people the opportunity to taste, smell, work and learn in the field. This bond is created through self-harvesting, collective work days and cooperation with schools, social organisations and local residents.
