Les Potagers de la Grange

An adventure born of passion and commitment

Since the launch of The Barn in 2017, we have always sought to build deep connections with the producers around us. In 2022, we took a new step: creating our own market garden. This is how Les Potagers de la Grange was born—a project driven by our desire to better understand the profession of farming, its challenges, and its realities. There’s nothing like getting your hands dirty to truly experience the trade!

Why grow our own vegetables?

Several reasons motivated us:

• The joy of getting your hands dirty in the soil: sowing, cultivating, and harvesting our vegetables, in rhythm with the seasons, Belgian rain, and sunshine.
• Better understanding our farmers: by experiencing the realities of the field ourselves, we grasp the challenges of pricing policies, climate issues, and the daily work of market gardeners more clearly. This allows us to support them better and provide you with more accurate information.
• Offering you sustainable, super fresh, delicious, and affordably priced products: by delivering directly from our own production to our markets.

100% organic and local farming:

Our adventure began on a 1.5-hectare plot in Chaumont-Gistoux, where we grow around forty types of vegetables, delicious tomatoes, and a few small fruits—all with passion and respect for the environment. In 2024, we acquired a 4-hectare site in Aische-en-Refail (Eghezée), where we relocated our entire production. This move allows us to sustain our activity long-term and expand our offerings, always with a commitment to sustainability.

David Herion, the passionate market gardener behind the project

David is the market gardener in charge of Les Potagers de la Grange. He has been working there since the beginning, alongside Théo, his right-hand man, and a team of seasonal workers. To better understand what goes on behind the scenes, David even spent a winter working as a salesperson with our teams at our Etterbeek market. 

You might even catch a glimpse of him delivering his produce to our markets!

Every week, our vegetables and small fruits are harvested with care and delivered to all our The Barn markets. By choosing our products, you support local, organic, and environmentally friendly farming—all while enjoying flavorful food.
