Koen and Stien
Groenlof is a small organic vegetable farm run by Koen and Stien. They started up in 2017 in Afsnee, near Ghent, but in 2021, after four years in business, they decided to move back to Antwerp, closer to their roots. Their vegetables now grow on the border between Boechout and Lier, close to our Antwerp market.
Koen and Stien have a lot of love for each other, but also for the planet. So they see sustainable and organic food production as their form of activism to contribute to a better world.
They work entirely according to organic farming principles. For example, they do not use chemical fertilisers or pesticides, and take care of their soil by working it by hand or using lightweight materials. This ensures that the soil is aerated and helps the roots of the plants to grow.
The Barn Antwerp and Groenlof
Koen and Stien like to sell their beautiful products as locally as possible. Hence their choice to work with our Antwerp market. This way, the gap between the grower and the end customer is smaller. Customers know where their vegetables come from and how much love it takes to grow them. For Koen and Stien, this is an additional source of job satisfaction.
Like De Groenlof, our aim is to make fresh, local, healthy and tasty food accessible. We therefore share important values such as respect for nature and, like them, we attach great importance to fair remuneration for farmers.
At The Barn Bio Market, we work hand in hand with producers to bring you quality organic products, always at the best price!
