Jay & Joy is the story of Mary and Eric, two lovebirds who met during a meditation session. Both vegetarians, the couple decided to switch to an exclusively vegan diet. The hardest part of their new diet? A life without cheese!
Eric and Mary didn't sit still, and began to look into creating an alternative to cheese. What started out as a personal initiative soon became a real vegan cheese factory. The couple began to make 100% plant-based cheeses from almonds, cashews and organic ferments. These cheeses are not only animal-friendly, but also lactose-free, soy-free and gluten-free! So there's something for every cheese lover!
Jay & Joy's vegan cheeses are recognisable by their bloomy rind, which they obtain after a period of maturing, just like a traditional cheese. The reason why these faux-mage cheeses are so similar to milk-based cheeses is simple: Jay & Joy have developed a unique know-how by training with many cheese makers. They have thus merged the ancestral traditions of French cheesemakers with their desire for renewal to create cheeses with a unique taste.
The development of the Jay & Joy team since their creation has even allowed them to open a vegan cheese shop in Paris, its home town, in 2016.
