History
Ecodal was founded in 1982 by Francis Kestemont, who was soon followed by his brother a few years later. The Kestemont family has been growing organic fruit and vegetables in the Pajottenland region west of Brussels for 40 years. They concentrate mainly on vegetables and salads, with some small fruits such as strawberries, grown in the open ground and in greenhouses. What they do not grow themselves, they buy from various suppliers, some of whom they have been working with for decades. This enables them to provide us with a wide range of fruit and vegetables. In order to be able to supply themselves throughout the year, they have maintained strong and lasting relationships with growers in Italy, mainly in Sicily and Puglia, since the 1990s.
Values
The future of the family business is assured as Francis' son Lias joined the company in 2015 and his son-in-law Wim more recently. To broaden their scope, they have also started brewing geuze and fruity lambic beers, obviously 100% organic.
At Ecodal, they are concerned with the quality and taste of the products in their pure and authentic form, as well as the local aspect that is dear to them. Organic farming was a matter of course for them when they started out forty years ago and it is still the case today!
