Strawberries to die for… grown in open ground right here in the Namur region!
In the heart of the Namur region, le Domaine La Falize covers more than 270 hectares of woodland and arable land. For the past 20 years, they have been pioneers in organic farming, guided by a clear philosophy: to produce food of the highest quality, distribute it through short supply chains, and protect the natural environment.
In the late 1990s, the family discovered that the groundwater feeding the estate was polluted and contained excessively high levels of nitrates and pesticides. This realisation prompted them to switch to organic farming, in the hope of improving the local environment and inspiring neighbouring farmers. In 2012, they took a further step by planting Chardonnay vines and adopting a biodynamic approach. The results were so convincing that these methods were gradually extended to all their crops.
Aujourd’hui, ils pratiquent l’agro-foresterie et l’agriculture régénératrice pour préserver la qualité et la biodiversité des sols. Plus de 20% de leurs terres sont aussi en jachère pour favoriser la biodiversité.
From mid-May to the end of June, their strawberries are harvested from their most fertile fields. They offer several varieties, suited to different uses, much to the delight of food lovers.
At The Barn Bio Market, we work hand in hand with producers to bring you quality organic products, always at the best price!
