CultivAé's mission
CultivAé is an agroecological cooperative founded in 2016 and based in Perwez (Walloon Brabant, Belgium). Its primary mission is to create and develop local food supply chains based on regenerative agriculture. The cooperative CultivAé builds trust-based relationships between farmers, agronomists, storage providers, processors, entrepreneurs, and artisans who commit to producing differently in order to regenerate our soils, ecosystems, and planet. Today, the cooperative brings together over 120 committed farmers across Belgium. CultivAé is built around four core values: regenerating soils and life, fairly compensating farmers, reducing carbon emissions, and nourishing people healthily.
What is regenerative agriculture?
This type of agriculture regenerates soil, stores carbon and restores biodiversity, while producing high-quality local food. It is based on long crop rotations, no-till farming, cover crops and reduced chemical inputs. CultivAé supports farmers in creating short, fair and sustainable supply chains with a measurable impact: up to 2.5 tonnes of CO₂ stored per hectare per year. This approach goes beyond organic farming: it repairs the Earth by cultivating it. The One Life brand illustrates these principles through products that are healthy for people and for the soil.
Organic linseeds, 100% Belgian oilseeds
En tant que fervent défenseur de l’agroécologie, CultivAé a pour vocation première de relocaliser et de valoriser les cultures de haute qualité, spécifiquement destinées à l’alimentation humaine.
In Belgium, most flax is used for textiles. But thanks to the cooperative, they have succeeded in creating a unique industry in our country: Belgian organic oilseed flax, produced especially for food!
Rich in omega-3, flaxseed is a superfood that can be eaten in sweet dishes (granola, pastries, etc.) and savoury dishes (bread, salad toppings, soup, etc.).
One Life organic rapeseed oil, a 100% Belgian oil
This oil is made from regenerative and organic rapeseed, grown on living soils. Thanks to their partnership with a Belgian oil mill specializing in large-scale organic rapeseed processing, the CultivAé cooperative benefits from economies of scale and can thus offer a local, agroecological, and affordable product for everyone. Rapeseed oil resembles olive oil because it is rich in oleic acids and low in saturated fats, but it also provides essential omega-3s that are crucial for brain function. This refined rapeseed oil, with its neutral taste, is therefore a great local alternative to olive oil, perfect for cold uses (salad dressings and mayonnaise) and gentle cooking in a pan (meat, eggs, vegetables, etc.).
At The Barn Bio Market, we work hand in hand with producers to bring you quality organic products, always at the best price!
