Their history
Critida was founded in 1906 by Manolis Adreadakis, the grandfather of Giorgios and great-grandfather of Ioannis, who now run the family business. Critida has 45 olive growers. They produce about 300 tons of olive oil per year (200 tons organic and 100 tons conventional). Every year, thanks to a growing demand, the proportion of organic compared to conventional is increasing!
The (manual) olive harvest takes place in November. One tree yields about 120 kg of olives which will then give 25 litres of olive oil!
Our olive oil
Our olive oil is extra virgin, first cold pressed and only one olive variety (Koroneiki) is used to produce it. The result is an olive oil with a very high polyphenol content, almost 335 mg/L, which is 10 to 30 times more than other organic olive oils! These polyphenols have anti-ageing and anti-oxidant properties. The taste of our oil will be intense in the mouth with a balanced astringency and fleshy aromas, for an acidity level of 0.3%.
