Jacques Moreau created the company “Coteaux Nantais” with only 2 hectares of orchards. Two decades later, he partners with René Delhommeau and the orchard extends to about twenty hectares of apple trees. Together, they are starting to oppose conventional farming practices and are increasingly interested in a new production method without chemicals or fertilizers, biodynamism.
The conversion to organic production is not without pitfalls but both partners are confident of working in the right direction. In 1970, after a few years of low yields, their delicious apple juice took off. From year to year, their range expands and the fruit station expands with kiwis, plums, strawberries, rhubarb and peaches. Hard work paid off!
Coteaux Nantais have been labeled Demeter since 1997.
